Bon Voyage
I am so unbelievably excited to announce MY BIG NEWS. I have just accepted a position as a project manager for the Coalition for Financial Independence in Siem Reap, Cambodia. I’ll be living and working in Siem Reap for at least a year helping to bring a local weaving project into a viable business.
I’ll be bidding the states adieu in early December and looking forward to spending my birthday, Christmas, the New Year and every other holiday in Cambodia. I’m sure this will be a whirlwind learning experience full of challenges and accomplishments and I cannot wait to get started.
I’m not sure what that means for Constant Cravings. Technically, I know the internet is a bit slower and clunkier in the third world. However, this has become a space that I have come to love and appreciate. I am confident that Constant Cravings will continue, but perhaps this space will evolve into something new while I’m abroad. Maybe a more personal look at my travels, trials and tribulations? A place to catalog the new, dynamic and beautiful in Siem Reap? We’ll just have to wait until I’m abroad to see how Constant Cravings will unfold. I hope you’ll join me on this journey and continue to read CC.

i’ll be waiting for each and every post while you’re away.
Hi Leigh
Wow, very exciting! Siem Reap is a town with a great vibe, and Coalition for Financial Independence sounds like something that’s there to make a difference to people’s lives. Wealth is not distributed very fairly… Cambodia is very much “haves and have-nots”, and that sounds like important, rewarding work.
No shortage of internet in Siem Reap… it’s traveler-central… very much on the “Asian experience” route. Lots of fantastic cafes with brilliant food (French, Thai and Vietnamese influences), good coffee and wifi.
You’ll love it.
Very very best wishes for a smooth, happy trip.
=) Marc
Thank you, Marc! I’m excited and nervous… I have an idea of some of the challenges I’ll be facing, but it’s hard to know exactly what you’re up against until you’re in the country. You hit the nail on the head – the reason I’m so excited to begin this work with CFI is because I strongly believe that it will improve the quality of life for the Cambodians involved.
YAY! As I’m sure you’ve heard, I’ve been stalking your “big news” online and I am so happy for you. Congrats a million times over! I can not wait to see how the blog evolves … keep all your loyal fans updated
A dear friend of mine has spent a lot of time in Cambodia, researching dance and dancers. Let me know if you’d like me to let her know you’re heading there, for any possible contacts, advice, etc.
Pretty cool, what you’re doing. I’m excited for and proud of you!
